PRECISION MANUFACTURING & FINISHING
Precision craftsmanship, modern machining tolerances, and stringent optical inspection at our Sialkot manufacturing facility.
11 Stages of Instrument Manufacturing
Manufacturing precision neurosurgical and spinal instruments requires systematic controls across metallurgy, forging, machining, finishing, and micro-inspection.
01. Material Selection & Metallurgy
Instruments are forged from premium medical-grade stainless steel bars (primarily AISI 420 Martensitic steel for cutting instruments and AISI 316L/410 for non-cutting frames). Bar stock is inspected for uniform chemical composition.
02. Drop Forging & Blank Shaping
Under controlled furnace temperatures, steel billets are hot-forged in precision-machined dies to establish cohesive grain flow along the shanks, eliminating internal micro-voids and maximizing mechanical tensile strength.
03. CNC Milling & Contour Shaping
Computer-guided milling machines contour the bayonet angles, ratchets, screw threads, and pivot box-joints with precise mechanical tolerances down to ±0.02 mm.
04. Precision Grinding & Jaw Milling
Master toolmakers grind the instrument profiles, tapering the shafts to deliver responsive spring flexion without compromising rigidity under lateral procedural stress.
05. Tip Formation & Micro Alignment
Using stereomicroscopes, the micro-cup jaws, tumor forceps teeth, and Kerrison punch footplates are hand-fitted so that opposing edges close seamlessly with zero cross-over play.
06. Heat Treatment & Tempering
Atmospheric vacuum furnaces harden the instruments to optimal Rockwell hardness (HRC 48–54 depending on instrument pattern), followed by controlled tempering to prevent brittle fracture.
07. Satin Anti-Glare Micro-Blasting
Instruments receive a uniform satin matte finish via glass-bead micro-abrasion, completely eliminating disruptive reflections beneath high-intensity operating theater illuminators.
08. Chemical Passivation
Acid passivation baths remove exogenous free iron from surface layers, creating a protective chromium-oxide passivation film that resists pitting and chemical corrosion during repeated sterilization.
09. Laser Marking & Identification
High-precision fiber lasers engrave article codes, batch tracking numbers, and buyer private logos cleanly onto the instrument shanks without compromising passivation integrity.
10. Optical & Functional Inspection
Every individual instrument undergoes manual tactile testing, caliper dimension checks, and high-magnification optical inspection for smooth ratchet engagement and jaw symmetry.
11. Ultrasonic Cleaning & Packaging
Instruments undergo multi-frequency ultrasonic washing to remove all polishing pastes, followed by protective silicone tip-guard fitting, sealed moisture-barrier poly bagging, and export boxing.
Surgical Steel Grades & Metallurgical Options
We discuss and match surgical steel specifications according to clinical performance, cutting retention, and reprocessing environments.
